Shooting The Breeze Podcast: Episode 13

EP Carrillo Maduro and Smith and Wesson MP9 - 1

This week has been an absolute mess and this episode almost didn’t happen this week. Due to a freak snow storm and a couple of fallen trees, I was tied up all weekend and wasn’t able to sit down and start planning the podcast until after trick-or-treating on Halloween.

I got a little gabby as I shot from the hip and wound up with an episode that is just over an hour in length. Once you are finished with the marathon video, hit up the comment section and tell me what you think.

I would also appreciate your using the social share buttons at the bottom of the post. Those buttons will share the episode with your friends on a variety of services.

  1. Looks like you guys had some crazy weather last weekend. Thanks for sharing photos, also happy none of the trees damaged your home.

Happy to hear the 66 yr old woman was justified by protecting herself. Maybe if more crack heads would hear this story they would think twice before trying to take what is not theirs.

I am enjoying a Carlos Torano, Master cigar while watching this episode 13 and sippin on a little H2O.

That Spyderco Delica should work for you for many years in future. Happy to know it has helped you with a little yard clean-up…. Will be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Native. It is a little heavier knife so that may or may not be an issue.

    1. Blaze,
It looks like there will be signs of the snow storm for a while to come. While the snow is pretty much gone, my yard is an absolute mess and I still have a whole bunch of tree to clean up.

If you enjoy the Carlos Torano Master, you should give the Single Region a try. Most people seem to prefer the Master but I enjoyed the Single Region much more.

In the hand, the Spyderco Native 4 is a thing of beauty. I love the way that knife handles and I can;t wait to start carrying it on a reglar basis. I should also think about adding a flashlight to my everyday carry gear, although I know nothing about them and am running out of space in my pockets.

Thanks for checking out the episode and taking some time to leave a comment. I appreciate it.

      1. I bought the Single Region also, but prefer the Master. During October that all I bought and smoked was the Torano brand because we had a Cigar event at the local cigar shop in my area. I even picked up a box of the Exodus 1959 Robusto 50 years and got a free bottle of Torano red wine. It was part of the promotion going on till Nov 4th. Now I have just about every Torano cigar to choose from when I need a stick.

Pocket flashlights……check out the Streamlight Microstream Flash Light. I have a video review on YouTube. It’s small and very easy to carry with 20 lumens of light. There are so many lights to choose from, but this is a great start inder $20 too.

  2. Another great episode. Kind of weird, I grew up in the town that your second news story took place. that kind of stuff never took place when I was young living there. With the downward spiral that California is going through, releasing criminals early due to overcrowding, I can understand why the citizens of the state are pushing for dividing the state into 2-3 states. Northern californians want nothing to do with Southern californians. Totally different political views. the state government has destroyed this once beautiful place to live.

    1. Jan,
My only experience with that sort of thing was on a much, much smaller scale. I grew up in a pretty tight knit neighborhood in Philadelphia and watched it change before my eyes as I got older. These days I have virtually no desire to visit the street where I lived.

I think the woman in the news article did a fantastic job of keeping herself protected (except she should have went to the door with the gun and not fired warning shots, IMO). I’m really glad she came out of this ordeal without any physical harm.

Thanks for checking out the episode and leaving a comment.

  3. Hey Walt Great show glad to see you got some local news in this show. I read that article on Monday and I nearly stood up at my chair in anger, its completely out of line for the Philly PD to do something like this, and then for the Jury to rule against him is crazy. Its seems like gun owners rights just arn’t as important as non gun owners. Glad you brought it up. Great show

    Corey

    1. Corey,
When I read that article I couldn’t believe what I was reading.

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
