The 3rd Sunday of each month is when Stowe Archers holds their monthly Membership Meeting. Club business is discussed and all members are encouraged to attend. Ordinarily, I probably wouldn’t have attended on the same day as Ontelaunee IDPA but Stowe is in the process of working through some tough changes.
The Club President, Curt Peterson, passed away suddenly. As I understand it, Curt was a big reason why the club is so active. Being a brand new member, I felt that it was important to attend the meeting, for a couple of reasons. First, to support the club in a difficult time. Second, and this may sound a bit harsh, I wanted to ensure that the incoming President wasn’t going to take the club away from what was so appealing to me in the first place.
I’m happy to say, the club seems to be in pretty good shape, despite the emotional blow it was delivered with its President passing away. I just met the individual nominated to take on the role of President and I like him.
I went down to Stowe before the meeting to get in a Practice Indoor 600 Round in preparation for the Stowe Archers Christmas Indoor 600 Round. I shot significantly better than my First Practice Indoor 600 Round and went from a score of 517 to a 549. Shortly after finishing my practice round, I learned that the tournament has been cancelled.
Stowe Archers will be holding a Curt Peterson Memorial Indoor 3D Shoot instead of the Christmas Indoor 600. All proceeds will go to the Peterson Family. The cost is $10 per shooter and it looks like there will be about 32 shots on Reinhart Targets. The Shoot will take place on December 14th and 15th, registration is 7am until 2pm on both days.

Hi, just a small correction – Curt wasn’t president of Stowe Archers (though he may have been in the past, and was on the board of directors)
He was very busy doing many other things for the club – member emails, updating the website, running the indoor Vegas and outdoor field leagues, and coordinating the Southeast PA Indoor 3D Shootout, etc…
He will be sorely missed.
Mike,
Thanks for the correction
