Just a couple short months ago I found myself in a bit of a dark place. I was depressed about my weight and resolved to do something about it. I thought long and hard about how to make the process stick and decided to make myself publicly accountable.
On May 3rd I began my weight loss journey and put my plan into action. Since then I have joined a gym, started weight training, started running, began making healthier food choices, launched the Slimming Down Dad Podcast, and have put in the work to make the process a success.
It hasn’t been easy but the more I exercised, the more I found it to be something I enjoyed. I’ve been exercising five days per week and have seen a lot of success in that time. There are drastic changes in what I see in the mirror and the scale has been moving in the right direction.
In fact, the visual changes have been so striking that I’m not all that concerned about the scale anymore. It has almost become a happy byproduct, one that one that I don’t necessarily strive for but look forward to nonetheless.
This morning I stepped on the scale and was happy to learn that I’m down a total of 25.2 pounds since I started this journey. My initial focus was to get down to under 200 pounds. I hadn’t seen that weight since High School but now I’m more focused on becoming stronger and healthier, wherever that puts me on the scale.
