While at this years Cigarfest, I was fortunate enough to get myself a number of cigar samples. One of those samples was the 5 Vegas Relic. This cigar managed to grab my attention the very first time I saw it in the Cigars International catalog. At first glance I was immediately reminded of how much I have enjoyed the 5 Vegas Serie A and simply thought I would get a similar level of enjoyment out of this one.

Hi Walt. Once again another great video…Hey I can actually read the sign behind you in this one! I have this imaginary list in my head of cigars that I have no intention of every trying. I know, I know, I could be losing out on lot of great cigars but I have a feeling that I just wont like them (that sounds really dumb I know). Anyway, 5 Vegas is somewhere near the top of that list just behind Gurkha…Dont get me started on them! Oh and I have just added that silly one you did a review of on stogie review, that Castro thing…Man life is just too short for some things. Anyway, sorry for going on a bit. Thanks and take care.
I have had the 5 Vegas A and the A Maduro and i did not care for either of them. Maybe they were just to peppery/spicey for me, but it has turned me off of the 5 Vegas line. This one doesnt seem to want to bring me back either 😉

I bought a 5-pack of these the day they became available on CI…I’ve smoked one and have not had any desire to have any more. An OK cigar, but like you I was disappointed.
Hi Walt,
Thank you for reviewing 5 Vegas Relic…I noticed that you kept attributing the burn issues to the ligero tobacco. The Relic does not have any ligero tobacco in it. I hope you don’t find my comment rude.
Here is the make up of the Relic from the 5 Vegas website (http://www.cigars5vegas.com/relic.asp).
Wrapper: Dominican Corojo
Binder: Dominican Piloto
Filler: Dominican Piloto (’96)
Dominican Corojo
Dominican Criollo
Origin: Dominican Republic
Body: Medium – Full

Vic,
I don’t find your comment rude at all. Do you know for sure there is no Ligero in the cigar? The tobaccos listed are different plant types, Ligero is a priming (Top most section of the plant) so any one of those could be Ligero, Viso, Seco, etc.
I don’t have much experience with this cigar and can only assume the information presented in the review was based off of what I was told when the cigar was handed to me at Cigarfest.
Thanks for the comment

Hey Bro…Yes, I agree w/u 100% that they (Viso, Seco, etc.) could possibly be Ligero…No, I am not sure if any of the leafs were taken from the top of the plant, however, wouldn’t you think they would add that minor detail on their website?
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to reply! And thank you for reviewing cigars and sharing information with the cigar smoking community, I find your reviews extremely valuable.
P.S. I didn’t expect your reply! :o) Joke on me, huh? LOL. …And by the way congrats to you and you wife on the new baby! Now get some sleep! :o)
Vic,
Maybe, maybe not. Sometimes you see information like that presented to the consumer, and at other times you do not. I suppose it all comes down to the retailer (in this case Cigars International / Cigar.com) using that angle to try and promote sales.
I’m glad you enjoy the reviews. The ones that were done here are a bit dated. For more up-to-date reviews feel free to check out Stogie Review (if you aren’t already aware of it). I’m taking some time off from reviewing to get adjusted to the new baby, but there is a lot of material to read back through.
Sometimes I just get busy and forget to reply to a comment but i try to reply to most questions / comments. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and thanks for the well wishes.
