In this weeks episode, I change up the format just a bit and do some pre-show rambling. Once the random things on my mind were out in the open, I moved into doing the show as usual.
The video runs about an hour and is available in both video and audio (you can stream both down below). If you are on an iOS device, look for the iOS friendly link to the Youtube Version of the podcast.

This weekend I spent a couple of hours at Oley Valley Fish & Game shooting an informal / fun match. I had a good time and brought my Contour HD body mounted camera along to share the fun.

Hay Walt, one more interesting review, do enjoy the video when you are shooting, you did ”OK”!
Thanks for checking out the episode and leaving a comment.
Another great video. Really enjoyed it.
In regards to cleaning your weapon, I have a friend who had a bad experience due to him not cleaning his gun regularly. After hearing his story I clean my guns after every shooting outing. Better safe than sorry.
Looking forward to your next podcast.
Jan,
I used to clean my guns after every range session but that was when i was going every 4-6 weeks. With me shooting a couple of times a month, I never thought it was necessary. So far the only gun to give me any trouble with surface rust has been the Smith & Wesson M&P (and I still love the gun).
Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment.
As always enjoyed watching another podcast while closing shop here at the restaurant.
Surface rust: WOW! When I saw that photo I thought that looked like rust on your take down lever. I don’t own a S&W M&P, but do own 3 Glocks and I even did a video shooting my G-27 underwater and didn’t clean it till later on that night. No rust at all on my G-27. Sometimes I will clean my guns at the rang after shooting them, but mostly wait till I get home. Even a few days later. Sounds like you just have a bad apple. Smith and Wesson should make it right for you.
I also enjoy hearing the stories in the news that you bring to ur attention. Keep up the awesome videos and will be looking forward to that range video. Looks like you had a great time last weekend at your match.
Blaze,
I still haven’t gotten around to calling Smith & Wesson about it. They took care of rust on my slide a few months back (my gun was part of a bad batch). I wonder if that bad batch was just slides or other parts (in my case a takedown lever) as well.
Thanks for checking out the episode and leaving a comment.
You would think they would just trade the whole gun out for a new one with having a bad batch of parts..??..??
I don’t think it is as simple as giving me a whole new gun (there is probably a lot of red-tape in the way that would have to be done). I still haven’t called Smith & Wesson yet. The surface rust cleaned up pretty well and I put a light coat of oil on all of the metal exterior parts for the time being.
Have you ever looked at using Ballistol as a cleaning product? It works great on cleaning and protecting guns and knives.

Check out the website.
Blaze,
I’ve never used Ballistol but it looks like good stuff. It seems a little expensive but I’m accustomed to buying Hoppes from Walmart (which is pretty cheap).
Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey Walt great show as always. I’m really starting to dig your show and I like the featured content and the videos of your shooting matches one of these days I will get to a shoot with you. That sucks about your S&W, I always clean my firearms as soon as I’m done shooting and before I put them away I wip them down with a Poly cloth. I also heard of dehumi. bags you can put in your safe or range bag to absorb mosture. that might be another idea. Thanks again great show.

Corey,
One day we’ll get together and shoot a match and I’m sure you’ll have a great time. If you are interested in watching a match or two, I’ll be shooting at Lower Providence on the first Saturday of November and probably Topton on the 3rd Sunday of November. I’d also like to shoot South Chester in November but money is tight and I’m going to have a hard time shooting two matches as it is.
I’ve seen those bags before. I believe it is the same material that is used to pack clothes and food (opposite affect as what we use for cigars)
