It is Tuesday once again and a new Episode of the Shooting The Breeze Podcast is hot of the press. This week, with the help of listeners/viewers, I have plenty of news and featured content to fill out the show. I got a little long winded towards the end and spent a significant amount of time discussing My Gun Database.

On a side note, if you’ve got a dull weekend to fill out, I’ve got a great game for you. Head out and pick up plenty of alcoholic beverages. Invite over a few friends and listen to this podcast episode together. Every time I say the word “Interesting”, everyone takes a drink. You’ll be bombed before the show reaches the half-way point.

  1. Thanks for the review Walt! Greatly appreciated! As a heads up, gunsamerica is not an advertiser or anything — i included their RSS feed because it started as code I’m working on for Wishlist monitoring and just kept the RSS field in.

    And yep, range log/score log system will be coming as addons!

    BTW, the first firearm I entered into MyGunDB was my 91/30, the rifle that made me start writing the program šŸ˜€

  2. podcast # 36, My Gun Database contest, my first entry will be a Browning, 12 ga, Broadway Trap, I currently keep all my guns on an Excel spreadsheet that I created, but the My Gun Database software would be a great addition, especially if it has maintenance logs, and reminders for maintenance, as many in my collection are rarely used or fired, but do need to come out of the safe and be maintained on a regular basis.

  3. Podcast #36, My Gun Database contest, the first entry would be my family heirloom, an immaculate .45 Colt New Service Target revolver.

  4. The first weapon I’ll enter in the My Gun Database will be my Kimber Series 1 Custom Carry. Or maybe the RRA AR. No- wait….it’ll be my Colt Gov .380. Dang, how am I supposed to pick a “first”?
    Perhaps I should enter the old stuff first. How about my 1865 Burnside Carbine? The old Damacus barreled side by side 12 ga.? I know…the Harper’s Ferry flintlock!
    Logically, I should probably start with the small calibers and go up from there. My pair of gold & silver plated .22 Short derringers would have to start things off, and I’d end up at the 10ga. Browning.
    Walt, you can see my problem….it’s obvious I’ll be upgrading from the free version as I haven’t even noted half of the safe’s contents yet. Still, to pick the first one………damn!

    Yes, the news article I sent you made my head spin too. From what I was able to figure out after reading it a couple of times. The guy arrested (Jefferson) was trying to break into the apartment by kicking in the back door. When the father (Carl England) of the people renting the apartment went to the rear to confront Jefferson, Jefferson shot him. But Jefferson was not being charged with the murder of Carl England, only attempted robbery which is what struck me as odd.

  13. Well I just got a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm and the range kit that will be the first gun I’ll put in the system it’s my first gun I own & i just had a birthday so if I win that free pass I’ll be very happy!!!!

  15. I think bar none it would have to be my EDC which is the XD9mm SC. I love the gun trust it with my life and my families life. I made a spread sheet a while ago with all the fire arms data, as well as price paid, ammo fired, etc. This would be neat to check out from what I have heard its a great program.

  16. I just received my software from My Gun DB and it looks easy to use and very complete. Can’t wait to get home tonight and start populating it! Thanks Alan for supporting your contest, and to you for promoting the shooting sports. I guess now I really have to decide which weapon goes in first…..OK, it’ll be the Kimber.
